Tyres

The minimum tread depth for passenger cars is 1.6 mm. Below this depth the tyre can no longer effectively displace water which greatly increases grip loss. Check tyre pressure monthly with cold tyres. Under-inflation increases fuel consumption and wear. Over-inflation reduces grip. Winter tyres are not legally mandatory in the Netherlands but are recommended at temperatures below 7 degrees Celsius.
