Right of way

In the Netherlands, the rule "right has priority over left" applies at unmarked intersections. This means traffic from the right has priority. However this rule is overridden by traffic lights, STOP signs, priority road signs (B01 yellow diamond) and tram traffic. Trams always have priority over all other traffic regardless of direction. On a priority road (indicated by the B01 sign) you have priority over traffic from side roads. Example: you approach an equal-rank intersection with no signs or road markings. A cyclist approaches from the right, a car from the left, and directly opposite you a car wants to turn left. Order: (1) the cyclist from the right goes first, because right has priority over left — cyclists also have priority from the right; (2) then it is your turn, because the car from the left must yield to you; (3) the oncoming car turning left must let you (going straight) pass. And if a tram is also approaching, it always goes before everything else.
